Korean Fried Chicken in Honey and Peanuts

Korean chicken was first introduced to me by a friend many years back. And ever since I had a taste of it, i never went out of my way to say "It's one of my favorite chicken recipe."

BonChon Chicken has been my guilt-free treat resto since it served the Korean Chicken I so love. I know that there are a lot of Korean restaurants in the Philippines, but this particular resto is always close to my heart.

My ex-bf (now my hubby) and I used to eat at this resto whenever we crave for fried chicken. Those happy memories
πŸ˜‹πŸ˜

I've tasted dishes mimicking Korean's fried chicken and it didn't disappoint me at all; knowing that it isn't even 100% Korean. Just the taste of it makes me happy ♥

So, I decided to make my own version of it so I can cook it at home, any time  I want ♥

Recipe:

Marinate:

1/2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
1/2 t ginger powder
Corn starch

7 pcs chicken drumsticks

** Wash and dry your chicken drumsticks well and mixed with salt, pepper, and ginger powder. Then, coat the chicken with corn starch.

** In a deep fryer or cooking bowl, pour 3-4 cups of cooking oil. Heat it to prep for frying.

Note: Korean's chicken are fried twice to get that crispy and crunchy taste.

** Fry your chicken for 10 minutes the first time. What I did is, fried each side of the chicken for 5 minutes and turned over for another 5 minutes. Then, I took them out of the fryer and set it aside for 5-10 minutes to cool.

After which, I lower the heat of the stove to medium then started to fry the chicken again for the second time. I did the same method; 5 minutes each side BUT, I did several turns until I got the crispiness I'm looking for.

Sauce:

2 T olive oil (or a regular cooking oil)

4 cloves of garlic
1 pc red pepper (depending on how spicy you want your chicken to taste like)
1/4 cup soy sauce
3-4 T honey
1 T vinegar
1 T honey mustard sauce
1 T brown sugar
Peanuts

In a different cooking pan, put 2 T of olive oil to fry the garlic and green pepper. Add the soy sauce and honey syrup. Mix well, then add the vinegar, honey mustard sauce and brown sugar.

Taste your sauce first before adding the chicken to adjust the taste to your liking πŸ˜‰

Then, dunk your fried drumsticks to the sauce and mix well to evenly coat the chicken.

To add a twist into your dish, add a fried peanut ♥

I think I did pretty well... I tasted the sauce and I didn't expect for it to taste close enough to the BonChon chicken i love πŸ˜πŸ‘€ I was even surprised haha

Enjoy dearS πŸ‘„πŸ’‹

MAC RETRO MATTE LIQUID LIPCOLOUR - "HIGH DRAMA"

I have an obsession with Lip Cosmetics.

Actually, I didn't even noticed it until a friend who sold me Dior Lipstick asked me (I think a lot of times already 😁) if I worn the one I bought from her... And I was just like "Nope, Hindi pa. Iba yung suot ko" And I realized, I have A LOT OF LIP PAINTS... Even way way back my teen years.I have had so much that I can't give a gist of how many of it I tried alreadyπŸ‘„

So, just 3 days back I browsed over lip paints online and saw MAC's liquid lipcolour. I have no intention of purchasing any lip paints for the mean time and told myself to get one instead next month (since I still have a lot πŸ‘€ which some of it I haven't use yet; even after giving out a bunch already) 😐

When I checked out their portal, they had an online promotion at that time. Just buy any cosmetics and you'll get 5 free sample size MAC products.

Off I went for the lips section. And since I've been eyeing their retro liquid lipcolour for a month now, I decided to get one already. I purchased the High Drama shade after browsing over 31 shades available and got muddled up πŸ˜–

I'll be putting the details down below of the product I purchased ❤ ENJOY ❤

I did not expect to receive the product the day after I purchased it. Which is so great!

I had it delivered at work since I'm most of the time out from home. Their shipping partner by the way is Aramex.

I received my parcel in a regular packaging the courier usually uses. And when I open the parcel, I'm happy with how MAC had everything sealed nicely (neatly) and secured. The product was wrapped in a black bubble wrap envelope.

I got super excited and wanted to open it right then and there 😁

This is what greets me after πŸ˜™

It's like, MAC really makes me feel special. The invoice slash short 'Thank You' letter was neatly folded inside a black MAC Envelope. And the products I purchased were inside this some-what-like small dust bag.

These are what's included inside the bag.
Liquid Lipcolour (which is the one I purchased) and the 5 sample size MAC products given for FREE.

PRODUCT REVIEW πŸ‘„

How to identify if you purchased a fake or an authentic MAC liquid lipcolour? Just simply go through the item you bought; from the packaging, the writings, notes, and up to the actual product itself.  Check out what I discovered πŸ‘Œ

This is where the liquid lipstick is boxed. It's stored in a black box with the MAC logo upfront with it's Collection label and volume content.  It also includes the product ingredients, the manufacturer, bar code, lipstick's shades and other point of reference or specification.

And this is how the lipstick container looks like πŸ‘„

The bottom part will show you this:

And the inside looks like πŸ‘‡

It has a clear wand applicator with an almond shape tip designed for easy, smooth and precise application. The tube itself has a stopper inside which prevent contents from getting messy. It allows you regulate products you'll apply.

This applicator feels smooth and glides easily during application. The tip allows me to trace my lips nicely with comfort. It's an amazing applicator MAC has created.

This is how the lipstick looks like on my lips. It may vary though, depending on the type of your skin tone. There are some who has pinkish lip color, deep toned lips, or dark ones and mine is on the mid-range.

I tried dabbing a little as well to create a lighter tone and this is what I came up with 😚

It's a lighter shade of lavender. I love that it allows me to re-create a different scheme with just one product without it looking chapped and streaky; since it has a matte consistency.

I wore it the whole day; had 2 meals and a snack slash drinks in between and it's still there. I think it depends on the food you eat as well. Of course, eating too much oily foods will smudge it a little --- just like the rest of the products out there.
MAC really does have something to offer to the public. Most of their products are wearable and I consider them to be within the mid-range pricing compared to other high-end products in the market. So far I only have 2 purchases from them (I'll have a separate blog post for the other MAC item I have) and hoping to get more in the future.

At the moment, aside from Kiko Milano... I think MAC will be my next obsession πŸ˜€
