Roti Mum ♥ Singapore's Best Coffee Bun

Bread and Coffee...
A hot cup of coffee and a bread is the best pair ever! Are both meant to be eaten together? or may be they're really a match made in kitchen heaven!
Often times, curiosity strikes me, asking how, when, what and why things or stuffs are meant to be like this or that in the first place! Like for instance, who would have thought that dipping a bread in a hot cup of coffee would really taste good? I on the other hand, when I was still little, would usually pour a hot coffee on my rice meal then eat it with all pleasure! Weird, right?
A few days back, Dear and I drop by SM Megamall first before heading home. We came across this bakeshop that sell coffee bun. Dear said their bread really taste good.
It's a bread made out of coffee. 2 in 1, right?
I bought a piece just to try it. He is telling the truth. I don't know, but since I am a coffee lover, I do love the taste of their bread!!! A piece would cost around 60Php (Philippine Peso).

a-short-notice slash apology note

I have been very busy the past days and was not able to blog for quite a while. Since tapos na din naman ang holy week, I've decided to start blogging again. The kid and I decided to stay at his Daddy Dear's place, so sobrang nakakapagod ang byahe from his place to work. As in, and since nagko-commute ako, it's a bit magastos and at the same time, lahat ng type of transportation masasakyan mo talaga (which is in fact nakakatuwa) haha and pag nasanay ka medyo ok na din at parang exercise na din ang araw-araw na travel from the house to office and back again. Since it's that tiring, and pagdating ng house, I have to make laro pa with the kid and the stuff that we mom's usually do, hindi na talaga ko nagkaroon ng time to blog :( pero of course, minsan lang naman, so ok na din!

I have so many pending blog na dapat i-post! Hindi ko na alam kung ano ang uunahin ko Urrggghhh!!!

I'm really hoping that I'll be able to start one later after work.

Just wait for it guys and medyo pagpasensyahan na kung wala gaanong mabasa sa blog ko for now!

Thank you Dears!!! XOXO

Quote of the Day ♥

Gesture
(ges-ture)

A motion of the limbs or body made to express or help express thought or to emphasize speech.

As what was often said, leave a lasting impression for the one you love with a sweet and affectionate gesture.

I. Appreciate someone while they're still here. Learn how to be extra sweet and passionate. If you're the type who says "I love you" when you just feel like it, there's nothing wrong about it. There are some who prefers to say it when they feel it at an exact moment and time. But for me, I prefer saying it as often as possible. It doesn't mean that the value isn't there anymore. Each word I say comes from the heart. I want the person to feel how much they mean to me every single day.

II. The power of touch. Hold hands while walking and hug your special someone when they least expect it. Kiss them on the cheek or hand. Most girls find these gestures sweet.

III. Letters, notes, email and text messages. I'd still prefer receiving letters or just a short-simple note from someone. A text or ym will do, as long as you show someone that you're thinking of them often and that you're eager to know how they're doing at the very moment is what counts. Making someone feel that they're special and are cared for is truly beyond compare.

IV. Gifts. Simple gifts or token also makes someone's day special. It doesn't have to be expensive (not unless you do have something extra?!?! hehe). A flower made out of paper, a stem of roses, a chocolate etc. Whatever you can give to your love will be greatly appreciated. It's the thought that counts. One who's in love never questions, never expect but gives!

V. If you're an expert in the kitchen. Cook for him/her. A simple and easy to prepare dish will surely bring happiness. If you're not that talented when it comes to cooking, learn how to make simple recipes that you can cook at least once or twice a month. Serve him/her a cup of hot choco or coffee, offer a sandwich and sit together for a small talk.

VI. No INTERNET / PHONE for the day (or a few hours will do) ♥ Have a day of conversation with your dearest. No distruction of some sort like internet or phone. Talk about how your day/s has been or reminisce your past. I'm sure you'll be surprise on how amazing it feels to just talk with someone about anything. You can either plan for a future vacation, or even how you both would like your future to end up. Talk about kids, having a family... Talk about each others dreams and plans.

VII. Learn how to be more patient. Learn how to handle the situation well. Don't let your "id" overpower your ego. Learn how to balance everything, your emotions and your reaction to certain circumstances.

VIII. Take time to go out for a date. Being married or having kid/s is not a hindrance for both of you to spend time together. Go out for a movie or eat out for the day. You can pick the date in advance so you both can plan ahead on how you would spend your day together.

IX. Listen. If one is not feeling well or has been through a tough day, make them feel your presence. Just be with them. Listen and don't comment. Hear them out and comfort them. What you can do after? Tell them "I LOVE YOU"!

X. Make each moment "Perfect". I don't believe in the saying that "There's no such thing in this world as PERFECT", for me? Everything and Anything can be made perfect if you do extra effort for it. Besides, PERFECT will not be in the dictionary if it doesn't exist, right?

We are all perfect. We are a gift from God. We are made out of LOVE!

Quote of the Day ♥

"Naked"
I wake up in the morning
Put on my face
The one that's gonna get me
Through another day
Doesn't really matter
How I feel inside
'Cause life is like a game sometimes

But then you came around me
The walls just disappeared
Nothing to surround me
And keep me from my fears
I'm unprotected
See how I've opened up
Oh, you've made me trust

Because I've never felt like this before
I'm naked
Around you
Does it show?
You see right through me
And I can't hide
I'm naked
Around you
And it feels so right

I'm trying to remember
Why I was afraid
To be myself and let the
Covers fall away
I guess I never had someone like you
To help me, to help me fit
In my skin

I never felt like this before
I'm naked
Around you
Does it show?
You see right through me
And I can't hide
I'm naked
Around you
And it feels so right

I'm naked
Oh oh yeah
Does it show?
Yeah, I'm naked
Oh oh, yeah yeah

I'm so naked around you
And I can't hide
You're gonna (you're gonna) see right through, baby
you're gonna see right through,

i'm so naked around you,
and i can't hide,
you're gonna see right through, baby

4 years of awe-inspiring HAPPYness ♥

Heretofore!

Her world is nothing but just play, studies, home, family, friends, and so on and so forth. She doesn’t have anything to worry about aside from herself. She was blessed with a loving family and surrounded by awesome friends and people she met along the way.

22 years later...

Studies are done and work has come her way. She thought it’s her escape and hello to freedom. Her world was then replaced by travel and fashion. Seeing the world for the first time is what she thought the best thing that ever happened to her. Being-and-staying beautiful and sexy is all she has in mind. Work is just a so-so at that time.

4 years then...

She fell in love and became not so lucky with it. She’s moved on now and that’s for sure!

It was just an accident. It’s unplanned. It was something she thought of for later. It came earlier than expected. She cried hard. She thought from that day on, she has lost everything. She hid from everyone. No one should know. She’s going to keep it for herself. She struggled for 9 months and so. No mom to take care of her on that journey. No, no one. But she did make it!

Now...

She never thought once in her life, having HIM will be the most amazing thing in the world. Hatred is lost and happiness sets in. He made her the best person ever. HE made her realize that being a MOM is what makes a woman complete.

She’s sorry for once thinking that HE is nothing but a mistake. She regrets the time she has ever thought of giving up on HIM.

He’s now 4 and has grown up to be such an amazing boy. He’s a smart one too. He’s a very playful kid who loves to sing. I guess he’s more like me when I was his age. My mom agrees on that one too!

You know, I would carry him sometimes like how you carry a baby, and then we’d play or act like he’s still little. Good thing he plays along too! I would ask him to lie on my tummy and then I will tell him story of how he was born. He would listen eagerly with excitement in his eyes.

I don’t have any worries now.  No regrets at all. When I look at myself in the mirror, I know at some point the beauty has fade a little. It’s not the same sexiness that was once made others in awe but I don’t mind it. I know it’s all going to be just a beautiful memory of the past. I may have a loose tummy and a few stretch marks on my hip. But that’s what I call, “God’s mark of miracle” on me. Something that I know I would cherish forever.

Few years more and he’ll grow up. I know I may not be able to carry him like I used to. But he will still be my little boy and will always be my Baby.

Remember Langga, YOU are the reason why I work so hard. Sorry if I can't be with you most of the time. I just wanted you to have a wonderful future.

p.s. Don't get tired of hugging and kissing me every time I got home from work! You're my stress reliever.

Thank you for changing me! For making me who I am right now!

24 Hours Earlier…

I know I’m going to be very busy for tomorrow and will not have much time to write about my man. So I am going to do it now. I wanted to be the first to greet him.

April 9th is OUR day. Our special day! And will always be the best day for both of us ever!

Happy Birthday My Langga! Mommy and Daddy Dear LOVES you so much

APRIL 9 - Araw ng Kagitingan "Day of Valor"

ka-gi-ti-ngan
(Kagitingan or Kabayanihan)

Filipino for "Day of Valor" also known as Bataan Day or Bataan and Corregidor Day, is a national observance in the Philippines which commemorates the fall of Bataan during World War II.

Valor - great courage in the face of danger, especially in battle.

At dawn on 9 April 1942, against the orders of Generals Douglas MacArthur and Jonathan Wainwright, the commander of the Luzon Force, Bataan, Major General Edward P. King, Jr. surrendered more than 76,000 starving and disease-ridden soldiers (67,000 Filipinos, 1,000 Chinese Filipinos, and 11,796 Americans) to Japanese troops .
The majority of these prisoners of war had their belongings confiscated before being forced to endure the infamous 140 kilometer (90 mile) Bataan Death March to Camp O'Donnell in Capas, Tarlac. En route, thousands died from dehydration, heat prostration, untreated wounds, and wanton xecution while walking in deep dust over vehicle-broken Macadam roads, and crammed into rail cars for transport to captivity.
The few who were lucky enough to travel by truck to San Fernando, Pampanga would still have to endure more than 25 additional miles of marching. Prisoners were beaten randomly and often denied promised food and water. Those who fell behind were usually executed or left to die, the sides of the roads becoming littered with dead bodies and those moaning for help.
Only some 54,000 of the 76,000 prisoners reached their destination; the exact death toll is difficult to assess because thousands of captives were able to escape from their guards. Approximately 5,000-10,000 Filipino and 600-650 American prisoners-of-war died before they could reach Camp O'Donnell.

Did you know that United States is celebrating this too?

In Maywood, Illinois the second Sunday in September is remembered as Bataan Day. Maywood provided Illinois National Guard soldiers of the 192nd Tank Battalion who served on Bataan.

Maywood became the home of the 33rd Tank Company, Illinois National Guard. The Armory was located on Madison Street, two blocks east of First Avenue. It was organized on 3 May 1929 with the purpose of training men for combat. On 25 November 1940, 122 men of the 33rd Tank Company were inducted into active service to become Company B of the famous 192nd Tank Battalion which fought on the Philippine islands. They were destined to become victims of the
Bataan Death March in April 1942. Of the 122 men of Company B, only 41 returned to Maywood alive. Their sacrifice has been honored with a Bataan Day Parade.

Quote of the Day ♥

WHY?

Crying protect our eyes from irritants and foreign bodies, such as dust or getting rid of the acidic fumes when cutting onions. These tears are know as reflex tears. When our eyes come under attack from irritants, the lachrymal glands in our eyes start stimulating more fluid to wash away the irritant and drain it from the eye.

Lachrymal glands - are paired almond-shaped glands, one for each eye, that secrete tears.

Killer Alzheimer's (҂⌣̀_⌣́)

Are you getting old? or are you suffering from Alzheimer's Disease?

As we get older we become more forgetful. Old age often results in memory loss but Alzheimer's disease can cause loss of cognition, which includes things like memory, understanding, communication, and reasoning.

What is Cognition?

It simply refers to "Thinking". Conscious reasoning is something like, us doing our laundry, cooking food for dinner and playing volleyball but thought takes many delicate or precise forms, such as interpreting sensory input, guiding physical actions, and empathizing with others.

If you're suffering from Alzheimer's it causes loss of cognition.

Remember my previous blog here where I talk about my lola who's suffering from this kind of illness? They were here now in the Philippines and is currently on a vacation in the province (the kid and I will spend time with them too... SOON). I was not able to meet them since I have an important errand the day they arrive and since they have a flight early next day, I don't get to see them still. But my sister and kid went to our Tito's place where they stayed for the night before their flight, she said our Lola is a totally different person now. He was diagnosed of alzheimer's almost 3 years back but the deterioration is so fast.

Remember the movie Benjamin Button? She's somewhat like that now! Not on the physical aspects though! She acts and think like a child.

But one thing my sister notices is that, even if she's getting hyperactive at times and sleeps less than usual - aside from the fact that she can't remember us anymore (which is the sad part) - She is still the same granny that we grow up with who's very tidy and neat. Our lola is super OC (obessisive compulsive - the good type, ok?) and wanted things neatly in place. We grow up with that type of lola. hehe Even if she's suffering from alzheimer's? Forgets everyone (now & then)? What was not lost from her is her OCness hehe She's super clean and according to my sister, is always fixing things up and would like to clean the house! I miss that one haha I can't help but smile.

My sister was working before in a nursing home and has patients who's suffering from alzheimer's too. She said, "Makikita mo talaga na kahit may sakit na sila, kung ano sila dati, yon ang hindi nawawala. May patient ako, sobrang ayaw maligo, magbihis etc. and meron naman halos oras-oras gusto maligo." I told her, you would really know what they are and used to be! May be it's God's work of miracle. He'll take something back but leave something precious.

Ok, let's go back to our topic!

Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and, eventually even the ability to carry out the simplest tasks of daily living. In most people with Alzheimer’s, symptoms first appear after age 60. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia among older people.
The disease is named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer. In 1906, Dr. Alzheimer noticed changes in the brain tissue of a woman who had died of an unusual mental illness. Her symptoms included memory loss, language problems, and unpredictable behavior. After she died, he examined her brain and found many abnormal clumps (now called amyloid plaques) and tangled bundles of fibers (now called neurofibrillary tangles).

Plaques and tangles in the brain are two of the main features of Alzheimer’s disease. The third is the loss of connections between nerve cells (neurons) in the brain.
Although treatment can help manage symptoms in some people, currently there is no cure for this devastating disease.

What Happens to the Brain?

Although we still don’t know how the Alzheimer’s disease process begins, it seems likely that damage to the brain starts a decade or more before problems become evident. During the preclinical stage of Alzheimer’s disease, people are free of symptoms, but toxic changes are taking place in the brain. Abnormal deposits of proteins form amyloid plaques and tau tangles throughout the brain, and once-healthy neurons begin to work less efficiently. Over time, neurons lose the ability to function and communicate with each other, and eventually they die.

Alzheimer's Disease Symptoms
Memory Loss and Alzheimer's Disease
Forgetting recently learned information is one of the most common early signs of Alzheimer's disease. A person begins to forget more often and is unable to recall the information later.
What's Normal Aging? Forgetting names or appointments occasionally.
Difficulty Performing Familiar Tasks Because It Could Be Alzheimer's Disease
People with Alzheimer's disease often find it hard to plan or complete everyday tasks. Individuals may lose track of the steps needed to prepare a meal, place a telephone call, or play a game.
What's Normal Aging? Occasionally forgetting why you came into a room or what you planned to say.
Problems with Language May Be a Sign of Alzheimer's Disease
People with Alzheimer's disease often forget simple words or substitute unusual words, making their speech or writing hard to understand. They may not be able to find the toothbrush, for example, and instead ask for "that thing for my mouth."
What's Normal Aging? Sometimes having trouble finding the right word.
Disorientation to Time and Place Due to Alzheimer's Disease
People with Alzheimer's disease can become lost in their own neighborhoods, forget where they are and how they got there, and not know how to get back home.
What's Normal Aging? Forgetting the day of the week or where you were going.
Poor or Decreased Judgment Due to Alzheimer's Disease
Those with Alzheimer's disease may dress inappropriately, wearing several layers on a warm day, or little clothing in the cold. They may show poor judgment about money, like giving away large sums to telemarketers.
What's Normal Aging? Making a questionable or debatable decision from time to time.
Problems with Abstract Thinking–Is It Alzheimer's Disease?
Someone with Alzheimer's disease may have unusual difficulty performing complex mental tasks, like forgetting what numbers are and how they should be used.
What's Normal Aging? Finding it challenging to balance a checkbook.
Misplacing Things–a Sign of Alzheimer's Disease
A person with Alzheimer's disease may put things in unusual places: an iron might go in the freezer or a wristwatch in the sugar bowl.
What's Normal Aging? Misplacing keys or a wallet temporarily.
Changes in Mood or Behavior in Alzheimer's Disease Patients
Someone with Alzheimer's disease may show rapid mood swings – from calm to tears to anger – for no apparent reason.
What's Normal Aging? Occasionally feeling sad or moody.
Changes in Personality Due to Alzheimer's Disease
The personalities of people with Alzheimer's disease can change dramatically. They may become extremely confused, suspicious, fearful, or dependent on a family member.
What's Normal Aging? People's personalities do change somewhat with age.
Loss of Initiative Due to Alzheimer's Disease
A person with Alzheimer's disease may become very passive, sitting in front of the TV for hours, sleeping more than usual, or not wanting to do usual activities.
What's Normal Aging? Sometimes feeling weary of work or social obligations.

Can you now identify from which of these 2 are you suffering from?

Me? I'm still scared... that's all I know! **just saying "i think i have 80% + chance of uhhmmm ahhhh knock on wood!!!

Treating Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is complex, and it is unlikely that any one intervention will be found to delay, prevent, or cure it. That’s why current approaches in treatment and research focus on several different aspects, including helping people maintain mental function, managing behavioral symptoms, and slowing, delaying, or preventing alzheimer's disease.

Managing Behavioral Symptoms
Common behavioral symptoms of Alzheimer’s include sleeplessness, agitation, wandering, anxiety, anger, and depression. Scientists are learning why these symptoms occur and are studying new treatments—drug and non-drug—to manage them. Treating behavioral symptoms often makes people with Alzheimer’s more comfortable and makes their care easier for caregivers.

Slowing, Delaying, or Preventing Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease research has developed to a point where scientists can look beyond treating symptoms to think about addressing underlying disease processes. In ongoing clinical trials, scientists are looking at many possible interventions, such as immunization therapy, cognitive training, physical activity, antioxidants, and the effects of cardiovascular and diabetes treatments.

Supporting Families and Caregivers
Caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease can have high physical, emotional, and financial costs. The demands of day-to-day care, changing family roles, and difficult decisions about placement in a care facility can be hard to handle. Researchers have learned much about Alzheimer’s caregiving, and studies are helping to develop new ways to support caregivers.
Becoming well-informed about the disease is one important long-term strategy. Programs that teach families about the various stages of Alzheimer’s and about flexible and practical strategies for dealing with difficult caregiving situations provide vital help to those who care for people with Alzheimer’s.
Developing good coping skills and a strong support network of family and friends also are important ways that caregivers can help themselves handle the stresses of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease. For example, staying physically active provides physical and emotional benefits.
Some Alzheimer’s caregivers have found that participating in a support group is a critical lifeline. These support groups allow caregivers to find respite, express concerns, share experiences, get tips, and receive emotional comfort. Many organizations, such as those listed in the “For More Information” section, sponsor in-person and online support groups across the country. There are a growing number of groups for people in the early stage of Alzheimer’s and their families. Support networks can be especially valuable when caregivers face the difficult decision of whether and when to place a loved one in a nursing home or assisted living facility.

Tsoko.Nut's Malunggay Pesto Pasta

I've been hearing my friends talking about TSOKO.NUT's Malunggay Pesto  Pasta. I've learn to love Pesto's and I make sure to at least have a taste of it each time I went to a resto that serves this kind of pasta. Each one of us has a different taste in food. But so far, the Pesto I got from TSOKO.NUT is the best I've ever tasted. No additional chicken or meatballs is serve when you order it, but the taste is really good. One thing I like about it is that it has Malunggay!

I know food differ depending on the store's branch. I got mine from Northgate, Alabang. If you're craving for pasta, go ahead and try something different. If you know a resto that serves a Pesto Pasta, just PM me please so I can try it too.

from Dear with L♥ve (‐^▽^‐)

Wednesday afternoon, I asked my sister to go to the wet market to buy fresh meat for our dinner. Pagbalik ng house? Nga-nga, walang dala! Wala na daw paninda. Syempre, nagtinginan na lang kaming tatlo haha Alam mo naman ang Dear, hindi pwedeng walang makain yon! What a himala talaga. Since may chorizo and tocino pang natira pumayag siya na ganun na lang ang ulam for that night but is requesting for a soup. He said he'll go out to buy cabbage daw and ilalagay niya sa noodles. Good thing, may mini grocery ako sa bahay haha Alam ninyo naman, when things like this happen, ready ako!

Tadaaa! He cooked this one!

Chicken Noodle Soup with Cabbage & Egg

p.s. it taste good *wink

Since ang dami niyang nabiling gulay, I asked for some to make vege salad. Here's how I made it ♥

Chinese Cabbage
Tomatoes
Papaya
Olive Oil
Pinakurat Vinegar

Just mix all the ingredients and you're ready to serve it!

This was one happy dinner! Something na hindi sinadya na lutuin haha
